• 30 steers
• 70 pigs
• 145 lambs
• 65 goats
• 11 rabbit pens

Steps to Purchase Your 4-H & FFA Market Animal

1. Register as a buyer, get a bid card, and obtain a sale list.
2. At the sale, bid on your choice of animals. The animals are sold by the head, usually in $25–$100 increments per head. Each animal is sold to the highest bidder. If you are unfamiliar with auctions, volunteers can guide you through the auction process; let us know if you need help.
3. Identify on the lot card who you want to process your animal or whether it is for resale.
4. All payments are due within 30 days of the invoice date.

Ways to Buy

Purchase for Processing: Buyer is financially responsible for the purchase, processing, cutting, and wrapping costs of the meat.

Shared Purchase: You may share in a purchase where the meat and costs are divided equally among the participants.

Purchase on the Spread: The Market Animal Sale Committee handles all details, and the buyer pays only the difference between the buyer’s bid and the floor price. The floor buyer gets the animal and pays the floor value. Floor prices will be published at the sale.

Proxy Buyers: If you are unable or uncomfortable attending the livestock sale but would like to put in a bid up to a specified amount, simply contact the individuals listed below, and they will bid and possibly make a purchase in your name.

4-H & FFA Livestock members make a long-term commitment to the care of their animals to provide you, the buyer, with high-quality meat. Members learn how to apply principles of livestock nutrition, train and safely handle the animal, and use the results to formulate future goals.

Your participation in the sale is a major motivator for continued growth and education of the 4-H & FFA member and livestock program.

Buyer Participation

We hope you will arrive early to ensure proper paperwork and join us for a Buyer’s Appreciation dinner. Each registered buyer will receive two tickets to enjoy a dinner catered by Billman’s Catering.

Join us in the auction excitement. Sale committee members and ring volunteers will be on hand to assist with your purchase.

All individuals and businesses supporting the Junior Livestock Sale will be recognized at the time of the sale, in the 2027 Fair Book, in the 2027 marketing brochure, and on the Jeffco website.

BEEF – 1,300 LBS.

Approximate take-home meat: 754 lbs.

LAMB – 120 LBS.

Approximate take-home meat: 60 lbs.

PORK – 260 LBS.

Approximate take-home meat: 190 lbs.

GOAT – 80 LBS.

Approximate take-home meat: 40 lbs.
